Joyce has owned & enjoyed 3829 Opal Street for the last 20 years. She was drawn to the upstairs living room w/ windows that allowed the light to flood inside. She would often retreat to the backyard that was studded with orange, lemon, lime, Feijoa, fig & her recently acquired cherry tree. This home allowed her flexibility. At one point she used the property as a single family home & slept upstairs where she could view the redwood tree & be entertained by a family of squirrels that would chase each other up and down the tree. She was also able to live downstairs & rent out the upstairs unit, all the while she continually improved the property. During her stewardship she did significant electrical upgrades - partial foundation replacement, seismic retrofitting, updated both kitchens, replaced the roof & water heater, and more. Living in a “Walker's Paradise”, w/ a WalkScore® of 94 Joyce loved the convenient accessibility to restaurants & was a regular at the Temescal Farmers' Market.
